Strong wind paragliding at Khao Sadao

I took off when the wind calmed down from more than 10 meters a second. At least that was what I believed. Out there the wind came from the west. I started to think about a top landing very soon. Right outside takeoff I met headwind which made me go backwards with 10 kilometers. When you are in the middle of the weight my Gradient Nevada is certified for max speed 53 kilometers pressing full speedbar. This means the theoretical air speed was 63 kilometers an hour. That is 17,5 meters a second or 34 knots.

According to http://www.windfinder.com/wind/windspeed.htm this is wind characterized as Gale. Luckily it was only a windgust, and I managed to topland. In retrospect I should have landed down where the wind was not strong.
